Complete MoisturePlus Recall Lawyers
Getting the Word out about Product Recalls
How many times have we all walked into Target or Babies "R" Us and really looked at the product recall notices they have posted at their entrances? It is quite rare that we take the time and yet it is very important to the safety of us and our families. This is why the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) tries to be diligent in getting their recall notices out to the public. It is quite a challenge, but in this advanced communication technology era we live in, it is much easier.
Just this year in May, Advanced Medical Optics Inc. (AMO) voluntarily recalled one of their products. Consumers using their Complete MoisturePlus Multipurpose Contact Lens Solution were reporting serious injuries after using the solution to disinfect their contact lenses. The FDA recognized the number of reported cases and concluded that there is a link between consumer injuries and AMO's cleaning solution. They announced a recall of the product also in May. They posted warnings that all bottles of this AMO solution should be discarded immediately and that any lenses that were cleaned by this solution should also be discarded.
The FDA is proactive in getting the word out about their recalls. They include detailed information about any product they have recalled on their Web site. But they understand that unless a consumer is aware there is a recall, they will not visit the FDA Web site. So they submit their recall notices to the media and other consumer outlets. News travels fast, however, sometimes not as fast as the FDA would like to see. In August of 2007 the FDA announced yet another recall warning reiterating that they had warned consumers against in May. The FDA was concerned that consumers were continuing to using the AMO cleaning solution.
Contact lens recall lawsuits are being filed all over the country. Consumers are beginning to identify the link between the solution they believed was disinfecting their contact lenses and the pain and health issues that they are experiencing with their eyes. Just recently AMO received their first contact lens recall lawsuit claim from a minor, a 16 year-old girl. She has been undergoing eye infections that she still suffers with today.
Filing a contact lens recall lawsuit takes in-depth knowledge of products liability. If you have used one of AMO's products, namely their multipurpose cleaning solution, you may have a claim. But before you make any decisions on filing a contact lens recall lawsuit, you should speak with a products liability attorney that has knowledge of this specific AMO recall. The attorneys of Williams Kherkher are well aware of the issues surrounding AMO's recall as they are with previous contact lens solution recalls.
